This series, which was so much fun to write, began as a television show. It was even being developed for TV when the usual Hollywood hiccup trashed the project, luckily while we were still dickering over the contract, or our rights would have been gobbled up. We turned it into books.
Our focus was teens in a cool dystopia with a feel of the Wild West that had wonderful as well as scary things. Included in the coolth factor were teens with powers. Animals with powers. Trees with powers . . . Meanwhile, we wanted to celebrate diversity, with white people in the minority.
